WHO .. permits wickedness, God?
Genesis 3:4
What happens when the seemingly innocent question, why does God "permit" wickedness, works like an accusation, implementing him in
crimes due to negligence ?
What happened to the respectable God who gave Moses the ten commandments, forbidding, not permitting wickedness ? Has he surrendered
his throne or renounced his moral principals, turning away from mankind?
Is judgment day cancelled so, why even try? 2Pe.3:7 After all, he can't render
judgment against what he allegedly "permits" can he ? Is the ransom sacrifice
of Christ now obsolete, since God has become "permissive",
as Christendom charlatan clergy suggest ? If God now permits
wickedness, who if anyone forbids it? Is this simply a harmless phrase, a
matter of semantics, or can it become a dangerous subliminal message,
suggesting God is indifferent to wicked acts and human suffering,
subconsciously subverting faith since, for all practical purposes, "God
is dead" ?
Jehovah God does not describe himself with the phrase "God permits wickedness "(
confirmed by computerized bible scan ). God's word cautions about scripturally illiterate philosophies; "
we should no longer be babes, tossed about as by waves and carried
hither and thither by every wind of teaching by means of the trickery of
men, by means of cunning in contriving error. But speaking the truth,
let us by love grow up in all things into him who is the Christ". Eph.4:14 (this is not meant to imply the phrase is ever
deliberately used derogatorily ). Isaiah's words encourage cautious
speech; "woe to those who are saying that good is bad and bad is good,
those who are putting darkness for light and light for darkness...." Is.5:20
A large scale example of this "contriving error" "is displayed by a world suffering from two global
civil wars (so far). These were acts of treason against the divine law
of universal love. Many participants have neither recognized this to be
sin nor have vowed never to repeat it, even denying guilt and blaming
God for permitting it. (in Viet Nam, I blamed only my own self). The
truth is "the god of this system of
things", who blinds
and plays mind games,( 2Cor.4:4 ), Satan, and His world permit, even promote the wickedness
Jehovah God righteously forbids, to prevent suffering. Jehovah dose not
prevent the abuse of free will, only by running it's chosen course, will
this world resolve the issue of universal sovereignty.
Amidst "the roaring of the sea
and it's agitation" (Lk.21:25), of this turbulent world, we
must "Look out : perhaps there will be someone who will carry you off as
his prey through the philosophy and empty
deception according
to the tradition of men, according to the elementary
things of the world and not according to Christ. Col2:8, ( like our own selves, I've used
the phrase many times ).
How can we clarify this
convoluted picture puzzle of blame and denial...and it's
bazaar semantics? By adding the two missing pieces.
First: When asked why does God "permit" wickedness, we can simply re-phrase the discussion by
responding with, "I can tell you why God doesn't prevent it". This may seem trite at first but this contrast already
begins to exonerate the accused before we even address the issue.
Second: Use God's Word to
correctly describe himself when accused by worldly words. "If now, God,
although having the will to demonstrate his wrath and make
his power known, tolerated with much
long suffering
vessels of wrath made fit for destruction, ... Ro.9:22 Dose
tolerated with much long suffering, denote permissive indifference, or righteous indignation ?
To be sure, this is a rather obscure psychological /
scriptural battle to take the burden of proof off Jehovah God who forbids wickedness, and put it right back on the "ruler of the
world", Satan who promotes it. ( phewwww , I'm no scholar, how'm I doing so far ?)
This subject demonstrates the
value of relying on God's Word; "all scripture is inspired of God and
beneficial for teaching, reproving, for disciplining
in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent,
completely equipped for every good work." 2Tim.3:16
Jehovah dose not grant instant
enlightenment but his word helps reasoning skills; "Let your utterance
always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so as to know how you ought to
give an answer to each one. Col.4:5
Ultimately, whether we choose to
reply god permits wickedness, as a conversational
courtesy to the world, or he tolerates it out of reverence to God, is a
matter of personal priority, and "being all things to all people".
By paying" constant attention to
ourselves and our teaching" 1Tim.4:16, we are ever vigilant to weed out worldly words, draining
off the dross and purifying the gold, highlighting gems of truth in
God's word, to his glory.
